I'm a home school mom and have been using a laminated poster calendar with Velcro up until now. I have had my eye on this calendar and finally bought it! CONS: There is no space at the top to place the Month magnet. There are no magnets to make the year. Also, it's not a metal board, though it is magnetic. (FYI: The calendar is about as thick as 2 poster boards, but more stiff.) PROS: It comes with all 31 magnetized numbers, all 12 magnetized months of the year, and 12 magnetized "special day" squares. I love the calendar's colorfulness, that it's NOT cluttered, that each weekday is spelled out AND abbreviated, it's dry erase, and that it's easy to use. Over all, I am pleased with the calendar and would recommend it to others! I did make a "2008" magnet myself; using my computer, white cardstock, clear packing tape, & and old business magnet off the fridge. My kids love to put the next number on the calendar each day, and then sing the "Days-of-the-Week" & "Months-of-the-Year" songs! It is a great teaching tool for little ones, even if you don't home school. I pray this review helps you find what you are looking for! :-) God bless you and yours!

The description did not mention what kind of material it was made of.It is just a thicker paper(not as thick as cardboard though).Comes in four pieces that you need to reposition and paste.Assembling was a little tedious since it did not come in peel off paper.I had to tape inch by inch and all the curves so that my daughter would not insert her fingers in and tear it off. I would have liked it more in foam or atleast if it came in peel and stick paper.But otherwise it's good.Looks good on my wall.Bright and colorful.My daughter loves its size(tall as a real giraffe)
